Chaos Rising: ETB vs Booster Box vs Pokémon Center ETB — Which Should You Buy?

Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising (ME04) released on May 22, 2026. It is the fourth English Mega Evolution set, built from Japan's Ninja Spinner, and it is headlined by Mega Greninja ex. If you are deciding between the Elite Trainer Box, the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, the 36-pack booster box and the 6-pack booster bundle, this guide lays out what each one contains, what it works out to per pack, and who each product suits. Everything below is sealed English product from the Chaos Rising collection.

What is in the set

Chaos Rising is a small set: 122 cards in total, made up of 86 cards in the main numbering plus 36 secret rares. It contains five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex (Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar ex, Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex and Mega Gallade ex), five standard Pokémon ex, 11 Illustration Rares, 18 Ultra Rares and six Special Illustration Rares. The cards most collectors are chasing are the Mega Hyper Rare and Special Illustration Rare versions of Mega Greninja ex, along with the Special Illustration Rares of Cinccino ex and Mega Dragalge ex.

Because the set is small, a box or two covers a surprising amount of the regular set, but the secret-rare slots are where the value sits, and those are not something any sealed product guarantees.

The four main products compared

Product Packs Extras MSRP Our price Per pack
Elite Trainer Box 9 Full-art Fennekin promo, 65 sleeves, 40 Energy, dice, coin, dividers, code card $49.99 $66.99 $7.44
Pokémon Center ETB 11 Two Fennekin promos (one with Pokémon Center logo), same accessories $59.99 $125.99 $11.45
Booster Box (36 packs) 36 None $161.64 $193.99 $5.39
Booster Bundle (6 packs) 6 None $26.94 $36.99 $6.17

Prices are our current prices at the time of writing and can change; MSRPs are The Pokémon Company's published US prices. The per-pack figure is simply price divided by pack count and does not assign any value to promos or accessories.

Elite Trainer Box

The standard ETB is the balanced option. Nine packs is the same count as the other Mega Evolution ETBs, and the Fennekin promo is a full-art card exclusive to this box. The sleeves, Energy cards, dice and dividers are useful if you play, and the box itself is sturdy enough to store the set in. On a per-pack basis it costs more than a booster box, so the extras are what you are paying for. Buy it if you want one sealed item that represents the set, or if you want the promo.

Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box

The Pokémon Center version adds two packs (11 in total) and a second Fennekin promo stamped with the Pokémon Center logo. The accessories are the same as the standard box. It was only sold through Pokémon Center, so supply is thinner than the retail ETB and that is reflected in the price. The per-pack cost is the highest of the four products. This is a product for sealed collectors who want the exclusive version rather than for anyone opening packs.

Booster Box

Thirty-six packs with no extras. This is the cheapest way to open Chaos Rising per pack and the product most people hold sealed long term, because pack count per dollar is what drives sealed demand later. If your goal is to pull Mega Greninja ex or build a playset, the booster box is the right buy. If you are keeping it sealed, the factory shrink wrap matters, so inspect it on arrival.

Booster Bundle

Six packs in a small box. It sits between the ETB and the booster box on per-pack cost and has no promo or accessories. It is the sensible pick if you want to open a few packs without committing to a full box, or as a gift. It is not a product that typically holds much premium sealed, because the per-pack math does not favour it over a booster box.

Which should you buy

For opening packs, buy the booster box. For a single sealed display piece with a promo, buy the standard ETB. For the exclusive version, buy the Pokémon Center ETB and understand you are paying for scarcity, not packs. For a small, low-commitment open, buy the bundle. If you want both a sealed item and cards to open, an ETB plus a booster bundle covers both for less than a Pokémon Center ETB.
